PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronically controlled sewing machine capable of embroidery sewing and a recording medium recording a display data preparation and storage control program for preparing subtractive color display data by executing a subtractive color processing to the color display data of an embroidery pattern and rewritably storing the subtractive color display data in a nonvolatile storage medium. SOLUTION: A desired embroidery pattern is selected from among plural kinds of the embroidery patterns (S3), and when the pattern data of the embroidery pattern are read (S8), the subtractive color display data are prepared by executing the subtractive color processing (S17) and the subtractive color display data are stored in a flash memory (S18). Also, the color display data are prepared from the sewing data and accompanying data of the embroidery pattern stored in the flash memory (S31) and the embroidery pattern is color displayed at a display based on the color display data (S9).
