PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing reel capable of restraining the inertia force due to turning of a handle, and excellent in both a weight balance of the whole reel and fishing operability. SOLUTION: In a fishing reel having a fishing line-winding spool winding a fishing line by the turning operation for winding of a handle arm 3b of a winding drive mechanism in front of the reel body on the releasing side of the fishing line, the handle arm 3b is made of magnesium alloy, the length from the drive shaft axis of the handle arm 3b to the shaft axis of a knob supported rotatably by a bearing at the end of the handle arm 3b is set to be >=40 mm and the weight of the knob is set to be <=10 g.
