摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction material which has superior friction property under heavy load conditions and excellent wear resistance and is improved in oxidation resistance, heat resistance, strength, and fading resistance and in which screeching as well as damage to mating materials is suppressed, by incorporating coarse particles containing one or more iron group elements among nickel, cobalt, and iron and an aluminum element into a friction material composed of the conventional organic or inorganic friction material. SOLUTION: Coarse particles of 50-300μm average particle size are incorporated, in an amount of 0.5-70 wt.% based on the whole of an undermentioned friction material, into a friction material containing at least one kind among metals, alloys, metallic compounds, intermetallic compounds, and resins as a matrix and also containing at least one kind among lubricating materials, hard materials, friction regulating materials, pH regulating materials, and reinforcing materials as a filler. The coarse particles contain one or more iron group elements among nickel, cobalt, and iron and an aluminum element. As the proportion between the iron group elements and the aluminum element in the coarse particles, the coarse particles consist of 85-89 wt.% iron group elements and 11-15 wt.% aluminum element.
