PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a quantitative understanding of the relation between the feeling of a shape and form measurements of a toe portion and obtain an optimal toe shape corresponding to a propensity in striking a ball by a golfer, by forming the upper end portion of a face into a shape projecting upward on the toe side as one for a player having a propensity for hooking, for example. SOLUTION: An iron head 1 is designed for a golfer having a propensity for hooking a ball, for example, and when the face vertical to a horizontal surface 2 is seen from the front, the horizontal distance S from the lower end (b) of the toe to the upper end (a) of the toe is set at -10 mm, and the size of a circular arc (r) partitioning the upper end portion 7 of the toe is set at 5 mm. In other words, the upper end 7 of the toe is formed as a projection upward on the toe 5 side, whereby at the time of addressing, as the top position (upper end of the toe) looks far away, and the face 3 appears to be open, a golfer can feel as if it is a so-called slicing face. Therefore, it is possible to make a player having a propensity for hooking swing the club without worry.
|
