PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract and/or neutralizing impurities to prevent generation of bad small by boiling a log material 1 obtained by wood cutting for a specified time, cutting the material 1 after the boiling into splittable chopsticks, immersing them in an alkaline ion water, and drying them. SOLUTION: Wood is cut by a specified size to form a log material 1. The material 1 is boiled for about 5 hrs. to extract impurities such as resin components and soften it. The material 1 is arranged around an axis K so that it can be swing therearound, then it is peeled off to have a plate-like shape so as to forma a lengthwise band-like member 3. The member 3 is intermittently fed along a longitudinal direction and a cutting part is pressed against the member 3 so as to form splittable chopstick pieces 5. The pieces 5 are immersed in alkaline ion water in a vessel. The concentration of alkaline ion water is pH 9-pH 10.5, preferably. The immersing time is preferably 3-10 hrs.
