PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove the clogging of a filter membrane unit simply and surely without detaching the unit from a raw water case by a method in which the suction side and discharge side of a clear water pump are connected reversely, clear water is supplied reversely, and a high pressure is applied to the inner surface of the unit. SOLUTION: When water is consumed at a faucet 41, the pressure of a pressure accumulator 42 is decreased, and each solenoid valve SV1, SV4 is opened to actuate a clear water pump 40. As a result, the raw water of a raw water case 11 is sucked to a filter membrane unit 20, and clear water from the hollow fiber membranes 27 of the unit 20 is introduced into the pump 40 to restore the pressure of the pressure accumulator 42. When the clogging of the membranes 27 is aggravated, valves SV3, SV4, which are usually closed, are opened, and valves SV1, SV2, which are usually opened, are closed. In this way, the discharge pressure of the pump 40 is applied at one stroke to the membranes 27 so that deposits are removed to eliminate the clogging.
