PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing (meth)acrylic acid, capable of utilizing turndown control for maintaining the optimum distillation column performances in dehydration of aqueous (meth)acrylic acid so as to obtain a solution of (meth)acrylic acid. SOLUTION: (A) An aqueous (meth)acrylic acid flow 1 containing (meth) acrylic acid is sent to a distillation column 2, (B) the aqueous (meth)acrylic acid flow is distilled in the presence of at least one kind of substantially water- insoluble distillation solvent with a fixed steam amount to form a crude (meth) acrylic acid flow 3, (C) (i) the ratio of the distillation solvent to water in the distillation is monitored and (ii) at least one of the amount of water and that of the distillation solvent supplied to the distillation column so as to maintain a fixed steam amount is controlled to correspond to the fluctuation of aqueous (meth)acrylic acid and to maintain a fixed steam amount.
