PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out damping capable of bearing various loads and force. SOLUTION: An electrode is installed on either of a housing 2 and a piston 3 so as to apply voltage across a duct so as to make passing electric rheology(ER) fluid rheologically correspond to it. Each of end parts of a piston rod 15 is supported by a sliding bush assembly body installed on an end part of a housing 2 free to slide. The sliding bush assembly body is separated from the ER fluid in a fluid chamber by elastic body sealing so as to reduce abrasion of a bush and deterioration of the ER fluid.
