PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the cargo handling gear of a cargo ship which can flatten the surface of cargoes loaded on a bottom floor of a cargo hold, improving the volumetric efficiency of the cargo ship, and load other cargoes than powder and granular material. SOLUTION: This cargo handling gear of a cargo ship 1 is provided with a traveling body 13 provided within a cargo hold 7 in a freely traveling manner in the longitudinal direction of the cargo ship, this traveling body 13 is provided with a suction port opened in the vicinity of an inner bottom plate 4 in the cargo hold 7, and a scraping means 22 to scrape the powder and granular material on the inner bottom plate toward the suction port. Suction ports, sucking means 40, 42 to suck the powder and granular material via suction ducts 28, 29 connected thereto, collecting means 38, 41 to collect the powder and granular material sucked by the sucking means, and a carrying means 59 to carry the powder and granular material collected by the collecting means outboard the cargo ship are provided outside the cargo hold.
