TITANIUM OXIDE COATING FILM-FORMABLE COMPOSITION FOR PHOTOCATALYST AND PRODUCTION OF THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a neutral sol containing a finely porous sol of a titanium oxide having a redox function to an organic matter and showing hydrophilic phenomenon by ultraviolet radiation and a silicate-hydrolyzed product. SOLUTION: This titanium oxide coating film-formable composition contains a titanium oxide sol stable at a pH in a neutral range, a hydrolyzed product at pH 2.2-6.5 and obtained by condensation polymerization of alkyl silicate in the presence of a tribasic mineral acid or a dibasic or tribasic organic acid, and a solvent. The composition contains Ti and Si (including silicon as a dispersion stabilization agent) in (15-85):(15-85) weight ratio (on TiO2 and SiO2 basis) in total 100 and has pH within 4.5-7.5 and the total solid matter concentration of 20 wt.% or lower.
