PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel sheet for heat shrink band, which maintains sufficient magnetic shielding property while keeping a strength level causing no problem in explosion-proof characteristics and can attain a color cathode-ray tube particularly minimal in color blurring and in which the security of strength in a weld zone (including heat-affected zone) is also taken into consideration, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The steel sheet for heat shrink band has a chemical composition containing, by weight, <=0.005% C, <=1% Si, 0.1-2.5% Mn, <=0.15% P, <=0.02% S, <=0.08% sol.Al, <=0.005% N, and 0.005-0.04% Nb. Further, in a state after shrinkage fit, the product of the magnetic permeability (μz) in a magnetic field of 0.3 Oe and the sheet thickness (mm),μ×t, is >=380.
