PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for efficiently producing a filament yarn with slight damage to filament surfaces and advantageously used in subsequent steps when carrying out intermingling, relaxing and/or thermosetting the filament yarn in melt spinning. SOLUTION: This apparatus comprises treatment chambers 80 and 81 which can be filled with an essentially scarcely changing high-pressure and high- temperature gas and have an inlet opening 83 and an outlet opening 84 preferably designed as nozzles for passing a filament yarn 50 therethrough. The openings 83 and 84 are capable of respectively making a gas flow in the same direction or the opposite direction from the passage direction of the filament yarn 50 when releasing the pressure.
