PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively and highly precisely cast a hollow shaft with a simple structure. SOLUTION: In this method for manufacturing the hollow shaft whose top end is closed by arranging a core 11 in a cavity 23 formed in a casting mold, supporting the core 11 to the casting mold by a core print 12 in which the core 11 is provided at a base end and casting molten steel in the cavity 23, the core 11 is supported to the casting mold by first core prints 13, 14 in which cast holes are formed on both sides of the left and the right of the cavity 23 of the parting surface of the casting mold, and is held at the center position of the cavity 23, and the vicinity of at least the top end part 11a is supported by a second core print 15 in which the cast hole is formed at the upside from a parting surface, then the core 11 is held at the center of the cavity 23 against buoyancy acting on the core 11 when casting the molten steel by the second core print 15.
