PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of efficiently removing harmful ions dissolved in water while reducing the generation amt. of sludge and a harmful ion removing agent used in this method. SOLUTION: In the method for removing harmful ions contained in water, the removing, agent comprising a mixture which consists of an anion group- containing hydrophilic polymeric substance, an acidic substance and, if necessary, a harmless polyvalent metal compd. is charged in water in a powdery form or an aq. soln. form to be dispersed throughout water to insolubilize dissolved harmful ions in water.
