PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin and a resin composition which can be diluted with water and shows excellent properties (hardenability, close adhesiveness and water resistance) of a hardened item. SOLUTION: This resin is a carboxylic group-containing oligomer (A) obtained by reacting a polyol compound (a) with a polybasic acid anhydride having 2 acid anhydride groups in a molecule (b) and an ethylenic unsaturated group- containing polyhydroxy compound (c). This resin composition contains the carboxyl group-containing oligomer (A) and a reactive diluent (B).
