MESOPOROUS TITANIUM OXIDE FORM AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a mesoporous titanium oxide form having such large pore volume and specific surface area as to be used as a catalyst, catalyst carrier or the like, and to provide a method for producing such a porous titanium oxide form. SOLUTION: This mesoporous titanium oxide form of anatase-type is obtained by hydrothermal treatment of a slurry as a mixture of a titanium tetraalkoxide and water at 100-350 deg.C. The mesoporous titanium dioxide form thus obtained consists of a titanium oxide with the fundamental structure shown by the formula TiO2.xH2O (x is 0-1.5) and has a mean pore size of 3-30 nm and pore volume of 0.1-0.5 cm3g-1.
