DEVICE FOR AIRFLOW NOISE REDUCTION FOR HANDSETS

This invention is a device to reduce the generation of extraneous noise in t he mouthpiece of a handset due to airflow at the entrance to the microphone. The problem o f airflow is particularly acute for the plosive sounds such as "p" and "t" for which the velocity of air flow is high. The invention comprises an array of small holes, a backing chamber and an offset sound tube leading to the microphone. Significant reductions in broadband airflow noise are achieved.
