PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance filtering capability and at the same time, make a device free from maintenance by first introducing a liquid to be filtered into a tank body to maintain a liquid level as specified and performing the conveyance of a solid matter by a chain and a scraping plate and the suction/filtration of the liquid by a filter drum equipped with a rigid member simultaneously. SOLUTION: A liquid to be filtered consisting of a mixture of cuttings G generated by a machine tool 100 and a cutting oil is introduced into the tank body 2 of a filtration device 1 from a trough 20 through a loading part 4, so that the liquid is maintained at a specified liquid level L. In addition, a chain 7 is made to rotate between a pair of wheels 8, 9 and the cuttings G are conveyed by scraping plates 10 attached at equal intervals to the wheels 8, 9 to be allowed to fall into a recovery box 25 from a discharge part 6. Further, a filter drum 11 is made to rotate, interlocked with the rotation of the chain 7, to carry out the filtration of the liquid, and a filtrate is sucked by a negative pressure to be put under reflux to the machine tool 100. Next the liquid is ejected to the filter drum 11 to backwash it and the ejected liquid is received by a baffle plate 13 to maintain the liquid level L invariably.
