PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical sensor favorable for improved durability and a private part washing device with the optical sensor. SOLUTION: A housing 2 for an optical sensor 1 is a cylindrical member having a cavity chamber 3, a front end opening 4, a rear end opening 5, a lens positioning portion 6 and a base plate positioning portion 9. A light transmitting lens 12 is positioned by bringing it into contact with the lens positioning portion 9 and closes the front end opening 4. A boundary between the front end opening 4 of the light transmitting lens 12 and the inner wall face is sealed. A base plate 20 is positioned by bringing it into contact with the base plate positioning portion 9 and closes the rear end opening 5. The rear end opening 5 is filled with a seal resin embedded block 25 and adhered to the rear face of the base plate 20 to fix the base plate 20 and seal the rear end opening 5.
