PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a strong plating layer containing a bromine component and excellent in gloss by mixing a metathesis-polymerizable cycloolefin monomer liquid containing a metathesis polymerization catalyst component with a metathesis-polymerizable cycloolefin monomer liquid containing an activator component for the polymerization catalyst and subjecting the resultant mixture to crosslinking and polymerization in a metal mold. SOLUTION: The metathesis-polymerizable cycloolefin monomer liquid containing a metathesis catalyst component comprising 1 mol of a metathesis polymerization catalyst (e.g. tungsten hexachloride) and 1 to 5 mol of a Lewis base (e.g. acetylacetone) in a molar ratio of catalyst/monomer of 1,000/15,000 is mixed with the metathesis-polymerizable cycloolefin monomer liquid containing an activator component (e.g. triethylaluminum) in a molar ratio of activator/monomer of 100/10,000, and then with a bromine compound (e.g. a brominated polystyrene). The resultant mixture is poured into a metal mold and is subjected to crosslinking and polymerization, thus giving a molding containing 0.1 to 20 wt.% of bromine atoms. Dicyclopentadiene or the like is used as the cycloolefin. |
