SUPPORTING DEVICE FOR ROCKER-ARM SHAFT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the disassembly height of a supporting device for a rocker- arm shaft mounted on the cylinder head of an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: A valve 11 energized in a closing direction by a spring 12 is arranged on the upper part of a cylinder head 10. This supporting device 1 is fixed next to the valve 11. The supporting device 1 comprises a lower supporting part 2 and an upper supporting part 3 which are attachable and detachable. The upper supporting part 3 rotatably supports the shaft 16 of a rocker arm 15. One end of the rocker arm 15 works in a direction to push down the valve 11. The upper end of a push rod 17 operated by a cam 18 is connected to the other end of the rocker arm 15. A bonnet 19 having height approximately equivalent to that of the spring 12 (or valve mechanism) is arranged on the upper part of the cylinder head 10 and covers the valve mechanism. Since only the upper supporting part 3 can be detached, the supporting device 1 can be disassembled even though room in a height direction is insufficient at the time of work. The bonnet 19 may not interfere with work. In a ship and the like having a low-ceilinged engine room, the supporting device 1 for the shaft 16 of the rocker arm 1 can be easily disassembled.
