PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce occurrence of stain in papermaking system and improve commercial value of paper product by adding styrene-based cationic polymer to a papermaking system using a neutral sizing agent. SOLUTION: A mixture containing (A) at least one kind of a neutral sizing agent selected from a group comprising a ketene dimer-based sizing agent, an acid anhydride-based sizing agent and a rosin ester-based sizing agent, preferably the ketene dimer-based sizing agent with (B) a styrene-based cationic polymer obtained by copolymerizing a styrene-based monomer with a cationic monomer at a weight ratio (based on solid content) of 100:(5 to 300), preferably 100:<=200 is added to pulp slurry and made into paper at pH 6 to 9.
