PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rubber composition improved in resistance to reversion of vulcanization without changing other phisical properties by compounding a vulcanizable rubber with a reinforcing filler, a sulfur compound having a specific structure, and sulfur in a specified wt. ratio of the sulfur compound to sulfur. SOLUTION: This composition contains 100 pts.wt. vulcanizable rubber (A), 40-120 pts.wt. reinforcing filler (B), 0.5-3 pts.wt. sulfur compound (C) represented by formula I, sulfur (D), and accelerators comprising 0.5-5 pts.wt. at least one kind as acelerator sleected from among thiazole-based ones, sulfenamide-based ones, etc., and 0.05-1 pt.wt. at least one kind as accelerator selected from among guanidine-based ones, thiourea-based ones, etc., having the wt. ratio of ingredient C/ingredient D is lower than 0.5, and the content of ingredients C and D is 20 wt.% or lower. An example of ingredient C is a polysulfide polymer having a number average mol.wt. of 200-15,000. In the formulas, R1 is an organic group; R2 is a 2-10C oxyalkylene group or the like; R3 is a 1-30C hydrocarbon group or the like; x is 1-3; y and z are each 1-6; m is 1-50; and the like.
