PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a biaxially stretched film with good operability without cutting the same and generating wrinkles at the time of stretching by uniformly and sufficiently cooling by a cooling drum. SOLUTION: A biaxially stretched film is produced by bringing an unstretched sheet 2 obtained by extruding a thermoplastic resin from a T-die 1 in a molten state into close contact with a rotary cooling drum 3 to quench the same and grasping both end parts of the unstretched sheet 2 by clips to stretch the sheet longitudinally and laterally. In this case, a mechanism capable of adjusting the rotational speed of the guide roll 4 succeeding to the cooling drum is provided.
