PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To favorably keep the fitting properties of a car body panel and a sound absorbing performance by a method wherein the formability at the part having a large developing rate of a press mold is enhanced in the forming method of a sound absorbing material layer, in which a bulky non-woven fabric is used. SOLUTION: Spherical fiber groups 20, each of which is formed by intertwining fibers into a sphere, are fed instead of a sheet-like bulky nonwoven fabric mat in a cavity C between a forming upper mold 40 and a forming lower mold 30 so as to be thermally softened with a heater device in order to soften the binder fibers in the spherical fiber groups 20 and them through the mold clamping of the forming upper mold 40 and the forming lower mold 30, so as to form a sound absorbing material layer into a desired form, resulting in allowing to ensure a favorable formability without developing a gap at the corner part of the forming molds 30 and 40.
