PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent grain damage, such as rubbing, by selecting either of hard rice or soft rice and changing the dead band width of a reference load current value for roll gap control. SOLUTION: This controller is provided with a selection switch 49 for selecting either the hard rice or the soft rice at the time of the roll gap control of husking rolls and whether the hard rice is selected or the soft rice is selected is read from the selection manipulation state of the selection switch 49 into a control section 31. Whether an automatic adjusting mode of the roll gap is selected or a manual adjusting mode is selected is decided. In the case of the automatic adjusting mode selection, the dead band width is read out of a ROM 46. At the time of the hard rice selection, the control reference value is corrected to the value of the wide dead band width and, at the time of the soft rice selection, the control reference value is corrected and changed to the control reference value of the narrow dead band width.
