PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aq. resin dispersion forming a coating film good in water resistance, close adhesion, and chemicals resistance. SOLUTION: This aq. resin dispersion is prepared by radical polymn. using as essential components, an ethylenic unsatd. monomer capable of radical polymn., a nitro cellulose, an emulsifier, a polymn. initiator, and water, and dropping a solution particle having a diameter not larger than 0.5μm, and the average diameter of the aq. resin dispersion is not larger than 150 nm, and the polymn. initiator is an oil soluble polymn. initiator with a solubility to water of not greater than 0.3 wt.%. Further, the emulsifier is a reactive emulsifier and the ethylenic unsatd. monomer capable of radical polymn. contains 0.5-5 wt.% monomer having a carboxyl group, among the total monomer.
