The unit (10) encompasses several parallel transport tracks (12,14,16) as well as a device (18) for transferring the objects (WSx) between two neighboring tracks. The tracks are located above one another in different vertical planes and the objects are moved to a transfer track (30) in order to move them, where the track runs in a direction normal to the direction of the main transport tracks.
