The individual feeding stall (5) has a delivery spout (7) delivering liquid feed to the animal. The liquid feed is held at the feeding temperature. The presence of an animal (A) is detected and the animal identified by reading (6) the coded tag (60) in its ear. A top-hinged door (7) is swung down to block access to the delivery spout if the animal is not authorised to feed.
