The base support includes support plate (7) with a section (14) for supporting a first region of an object to be examined, and a rest (15) for supporting a second region of the object. The rest (15) is adjustably connected to the support plate (7) via an adjusting device (16) arranged on the side of the rest opposite the side for supporting the first region of the object. The first region may be the body of a patient, while the second region is the head.
