The sliding sunroof has a number of sunroof panel elements (10a-10d) which are displaced rearwards for revealing the sunroof opening (13) along a pair of guide paths (75) on either side of the sunroof opening, receiving pivot fixings projecting from the sides of the sunroof panel elements, allowing each of the latter to pivot upon reaching the rear end of the sunroof opening. The adjacent sunroof panel elements are coupled together, for limiting the relative pivot angle between them, via coupling elements associated with their pivot fixings, e.g. a coupling tongue fitting into a coupling groove at right angles to the sliding direction.
