The universal machine includes a work table (5) and tool changer (23) which contains a support assembly (24) with rotatable gripper which has a support (26) able to rotate about a 45 degree axis (25) and fitted at its free end with a horizontally arranged and vertically arranged tool gripper (27, 28) which protrude oppositely and whose position can be interchanged by turning the support around 180 degrees. The support contains two support faces (38, 39) on which the two tool grippers are mounted. The support faces are perpendicular to each other and inclined 454 degrees to the axis of rotation.
