The adjuster comprises an open U-section slideway (2) e.g. of molded or extruded metal alloy, shaped to form lateral channels for guide members (4) on a slider (3). The guide members are connected to either side of the slider by transverse pins (5) which act as anchoring elements for hooks (15) on the vehicle seat legs (12). The slider is in the form of a bar of inverted U-section with slots (33) in its upper transverse wall (31) for the seat legs and hooks. It has two pairs of guide members, on its side walls (32), each pair being equipped with sliding shoes (44,45) and having at least one transverse connecting pin, which passes through a spacer bush (6) inside the slider.
