The invention relates to a device (1) and to a method for outputting image information on a recording material (21). To this end, a connecting element (4) is provided that connects a first strip-shaped recording material (20) with a second strip-shaped recording material (21). An output unit (13) outputs image information on a strip-shaped recording material (21). The device is further provided with transport means (5, 9, 11, 14) that transport the strip-shaped recording material (20, 21) from the connecting element (4) to the exposure device (13). A storage element (10) temporarily stores the strip-shaped recording material (21). Said storage element (10) is located between the connecting element (4) and the exposure device (13) in relation to the direction of transport (A, C) of the strip-shaped recording material (21). The storage capacity of the storage element (10) allows that recording material (21) that is temporarily stored in the storage element (10) can be fed to the output unit (13) at least during the phase of connecting the first strip-shaped recording material (20) with the second strip-shaped recording material (21).
