FERROMAGNETIC TUNING RING FOR YIG OSCILLATORS

A YIG oscillator is provided having a YIG sphere (12) magnetically coupled to a permanent magnet (46), a field straightener (48), and a ferromagnetic ring (50). The field straightener (48) is attached to the permanent magnet (46) and has a predetermined circumference. The ferromagnetic ring (50) is configured to fit around the predetermined circumference of the field straightener (48). The ferromagnetic ring (50) fine-tunes the magnetic field combination of the permanent magnet (46) and the field straightener (48). A coupling loop (16) is configured to transceive resonance signals to and from the YIG sphere (12).
