The device includes a fluid jet which moves across the work direction of the printer as the fluid is applied. The fluid jet contains a first hollow chamber (14.1) for storing a cleaning medium and a second hollow chamber (14.2) for storing a pressurised work medium for ejecting the cleaning medium out from an outlet bore (20) assigned to the first hollow chamber. The outlet bore is associated with a switchable magnetic valve. The two hollow chambers are separated by an elastic partition (15).
