PURPOSE: A device for preventing the lane departure of a vehicle is provided to offer convenience to a driver and to reduce the probability of an accident by forcibly rotating a steering wheel. CONSTITUTION: Two optical sensors(2) for sensing the lights reflected onto lanes are installed on the left and right sides of a vehicle body. An ECU(Electronic Control Unit) for operating a phase difference by comparing the sensing signals of the optical sensors and outputting a control current due to the phase difference is connected to the optical sensors. A step motor(5) rotating forward or backward by the control current is connected via a control circuit. On the output shaft of the step motor, a drive gear(7) engaged with a pinion gear(6) of a steering wheel to rotate the pinion gear is installed. A control switch(3) is connected to the ECU to make a driver set up a reference sensor. If the driver manipulates the control switch, the steering wheel is rotated forcibly to locate the vehicle body between left and right lanes.
