PURPOSE: A method for heating a cup in a microwave oven is provided to determine amount of contents by changing range of initial temperature and to compensate cooking temperature. CONSTITUTION: A method for heating a cup of a microwave oven comprises a first stage detecting changed amount of temperature during a specific period; a second stage determining amount of contents according to the changed amount of the temperature; a third stage assuming rising temperature according to the amount of the contents; a fourth stage deciding high temperature as present temperature by comparing the detected temperature from a sensor with the assumed temperature; and a fifth stage operating a cooking performance while the present temperature approaches an established cooking temperature. Thereby, the method for heating the cup of the microwave oven compensates the cooking temperature by changing a range of initial temperature of contents.
