<p>A low cost air bag device capable of being fixed to a specified deployment position on the inner side surface of a cabin using fewer sewing or welding points and inflator with small capacity without producing any looseness at the lower edge part of a curtain-shaped air bag at the time of inflation of the air bag and also capable of surely protecting occupants at the time of side collision, wherein a tubular inflating part (11) connecting an area near an upper edge (14) to an area near a lower edge (15) of the curtain-shaped air bag (1) is provided on the air bag, both end parts of the lower edge (15) of the curtain-shaped air bag (1) are installed on a body so that, in natural mounting state, a looseness (S) crossing the tubular inflating part (11) thereof is produced and, when the inflator (2) is operated, the tubular inflating part (11) is extended in vertical direction so as to provide a tension to the lower edge (15) thereof in order to inflate a protective inflating part (13) in the state that the curtain-shaped air bag (1) is fixed to a specified position.</p> |
