Increased size of communications networks, leading to a corresponding increase in the number of separate components and modules in the electronic equipment, makes an improved layout and design of the installation necessary with a module carrier replacing the conventional printed circuit card (PCC) module assembly package, and with the various half-modules (23) mechanically and electrically contacting the carrier. Two half-modules are functionally connected together and serve different electrical functions, as required. Heat generated in the modules is optimally removed to the external environment.
