The electrically-operated automobile sunroof has an opening sunroof panel (3) which is pivoted about an axis adjacent its front edge via a tipping mechanism, so that its rear edge lies above the level of the automobile roof, before sliding rearwards via a displacement mechanism. The tipping mechanism moves the sunroof panel into a ventilation position (3'), in which the wind noise level is a minimum, the sunroof panel rear edge dropped below the ventilation position before the sunroof panel is moved rearwards.
