VOICE DIALING METHOD

PURPOSE: A voice dialing method is provided to dial with a voice by applying a conventional voice recognition algorithm to a cellular phone having a vocoder. CONSTITUTION: When a telephone number is inputted(201) and a voice corresponding to the number is inputted(203), the voice is encoded by a vocoder and only a voice section is detected using information output as the encoded result(204). Features of the detected voice section are extracted and stored in the first step. When a user inputs a destination with his voice, the voice is modulated and output to the vocoder. The voice signal is split by frames and encoded in unit of frame in the second step. Only the actually spoken voice section is detected using a codebook gain output as the encoded result of the first step as energy information in the third step(205). When the voice section is detected in the second step, spectrum coefficient of the frame corresponding to the voice section is extracted as a feature and the feature is compared with features of words stored in the first step to select a word having the feature similar to the input voice in the fourth step(206). When the similarity of the word is below a predetermined critical value, the recognition result is judged to be right and automatically dials a telephone number corresponding to the word.
