The invention relates to a flap valve for controlling a gaseous flow, comprising a valve tube (13) which conducts said gaseous flow and a valve flap (14) which is arranged therein and which can pivot between a closed position and an open position, whereby said flap is rotationally fixed on an adjustable flap shaft (15). In order to prevent said shaft from rupturing within the valve tube (13) inside the sealed area between the valve flap (14) and the valve tube (13), the shaft of the flap (15) is oriented in such a way that the axis (17) thereof forms an acute angle ( alpha ) with the axis (18) of the valve tube (13). The valve flap (14) which is rotationally fixed to the shaft (15) of the flap is oriented in such a way that when it is closed, the surface normal thereof is aligned with the axis (18) of the valve tube (13) or runs at an acute angle thereto.
