The invention relates to an optical coupling device for coupling light betwe en two optical waveguide end surfaces, whereby the geometrical position of one of the optical waveguide end surfaces relative to the other optical waveguide e nd surface can be changed with the aid of a variable-length element. Said eleme nt supports one of the two optical waveguides and is fixed to the other optical waveguide by means of holding blocks. The variable-length element or the holding device is retained by a spring element that is directly or indirectl y supported on at least one of the holding blocks. Said spring element enables movement of the variable-length element or the holding device in longitudina l direction of the variable-length element, in which said variable-length element expands or contracts, and prevents movement of the variable-length element, whereby the fiber is retained by the spring element closer to the other optical waveguide when the holding blocks are fixed.
