The invention relates to an optical coupling device which serves to overcoup le light from a first into a second optical waveguide (2, 10), whereby an eleme nt (6), whose length can be varied, affects the relative position of the opposi te terminal surfaces of both optical waveguides (2, 10) with regard to one another. The element which fixes one of both optical waveguides (2) is fastened via a first retaining element (8) to a unit that contains the other optical waveguide (10). Said element comprises a guiding device (14, 16) tha t engages inside a second retaining element (18, 20) and which enables the element (6) to elongate essentially in only one spatial direction that is oriented parallel to the longitudinal axis of the element.
