<p>PURPOSE:To provide a photoelectric current transformer for direct current with which electric insulation properties can be maintained easily and surely in a practical electric power facility. CONSTITUTION:A transformer is provided with a polarizer 1, a Faraday element 2, a polarization separation element 3, photoelectric transducing elements 4, 5, and a computer 6. The polarizer 1 receives composite wave and carries out straight line- polarization and sends it out. The composite wave is produced by leading light having wavelength lambda1 and emitted from a light source 7 and light having wavelength lambda2 and emitted from a light source 8 to a wave composing apparatus 9 and merging them. The Faraday element 2 provides Faraday rotation in inverse proportion to the square of the wave length and a magnetic field H due to the object current to be measured is applied to the element. The polarization separation element 3 divides the light which passed the Faraday element 2 into two polarized light components crossing at right angles each other. The photoelectric transducing elements 4, 5 converts the led light into electric signals. The computer 6 extracts the quantity of light for every wave length of the composite wave from the electric signals converted by the transducing elements 4, 5 and computes the Faraday rotation angle due to the application of the magnetic field H based on the extracted values.</p> |
