The cooling system uses a pulse tube (20) effect that has a head section (24) that is in thermal contact with item to be cooled, e.g., an electromagnet (82). Coupled in parallel and connected to the hot and cold temperatures is a regenerator tube (40). The pulsed action effects a transfer of heat away from the hot surface.
