A sliced bread storage unit (1) is provided which assumes the form of a housing (2) configured to accommodate a pre-sliced loaf of bread in a generally vertically extending orientation. An access door (8) is provided which defines at least a part, and generally the major part, of a front panel to the housing. A floor (12) to the housing has a central aperture (13); and spool means (14, 15) associated with the aperture are arranged to engage and pull a plastic bag downwards through said aperture to progressively expose uppermost slices of bread for removal. |
