Method of placing fibres in a container

Filling decoy munition with fibres consists of forming long fibres into bundles (12) by winding round two supports, impregnating the bundles with a solidifying material (19) such as wax and placing in a mould (21). The solidified fibres are then cut to length by cutting into discs (4) of appropriate thickness, and the solid material is then melted to remove it before or after putting the fibres into the casing (2) of the munition. The bundles can be cut in the mould or in a retaining sleeve (5) of a thermo-shrink material or fine metal mesh.
