A web-winding apparatus includes a winding roll for contacting a web, a camshaft which is axially mounted in the winding roll, and push rods which engage the camshaft and which are radially movable by the camshaft to latch and unlatch web-engaging devices on the winding roll. The web-engaging devices can include transfer pins, cutoff blades, and transfer pads.
